A calmer Sunday
This is the version I still use. It is intentionally smaller than the first draft.
Twenty minutes, then stop
1. Know where I am going — 5 minutes
- Check Monday's calendar.
- Put the first appointment and leave-by time on the kitchen card.
- Set one alarm if the morning is unusual.
2. Wear something clean — 10 minutes
- Run one useful load: the clothes we reach for during the week.
- Move it to the dryer before bed. Folding can wait.
3. Make breakfast unsurprising — 5 minutes
- Prepare overnight oats, or put yogurt and fruit at the front of the fridge.
- If neither is possible, write the backup on the card.
Optional, never owed
Choose Monday dinner. Clear one surface. Pack a bag. Anything beyond the three steps is a gift to the week, not a failed requirement.
Why this version won: I completed it on the two messiest Sundays of the summer. The longer plan looked more impressive; this one changed Monday.
