Terms of Use
These terms cover Notations: the website at notations.app, the iOS app, and the browser extension. By creating an account or using Notations you agree to them. If you don’t agree, please don’t use the service.
Your notes
Your notes are yours. Private notes are visible only to you. When you publish a note (listed on your public profile) or share it (anyone with the link can read it), you let Notations host and show it to the people who can reach it, for as long as it stays published or shared. You can unpublish, unshare, or delete a note at any time, and delete your whole account from Settings.
No tolerance for objectionable content or abusive users
Notations has zero tolerance for objectionable content and abusive behavior. You may not publish, share, or send (including in an access request) anything that:
- harasses, bullies, threatens, or intimidates anyone;
- promotes hate or violence against people based on who they are;
- is sexually explicit, or sexualizes minors in any way;
- depicts or encourages violence, self-harm, or terrorism;
- is illegal, or promotes illegal activity;
- is spam, a scam, or malware, or impersonates someone else;
- infringes someone else’s copyright or other rights, or exposes their private information.
Reporting and blocking
On any note or profile that isn’t yours, the … menu lets you report it and blockits author. Blocking someone hides their profile and notes from you, ends any subscriptions between you, and stops them from subscribing to, copying, or requesting access to your notes. You can see and undo blocks in Settings → Account.
We review every report within 24 hours. When a report is upheld we take the content down, and we suspend or remove accounts that break these terms, especially repeatedly. You can also report anything by email (below).
Accounts
You sign in with Google or Apple, and you’re responsible for what happens under your account. We may suspend or close an account that breaks these terms or puts other people or the service at risk.
Optional AI features
AI features use API keys you add yourself. Using them means your requests go to the provider you chose (see the privacy policy), under your own agreement with that provider.
The service
Notations is provided as is. We work to keep it available and your notes safe, and you can export everything at any time from Settings → Export, but we can’t promise the service will be uninterrupted or error-free. To the extent the law allows, Notations isn’t liable for indirect or consequential losses from using it.
If you use the iOS app, Apple’s standard Licensed Application End User License Agreement also applies to it.
Changes
We may update these terms. The date at the top changes when we do, and significant changes will be announced in the change log.
